There's a storm coming!

Trying to get a little fun in before another storm rolls in.

Kinda hard to tell but the sky is shades of black.

A rare family photo!

We are pooped!

Feels like Summer is really here

Oh man, this heat and humidity has been just awful and this whole coming week is going to be worse!

We are trying to spend more time in the AC!
We loves us some AC!

oh don't worry too much, we get plenty of sunshine too.
We just tone it down and shorten it up.
Especially Taricha with her short face and pink skin.

Instead of walking laps around the park on hot pavement.
We sit in the shade and read a book.

Best part of summer is sometimes we get ice cream.... !

A Week in Review

Martok wanted to show off his latest skills and accomplishment.
Another class down, he starts basic agility next!

Taricha is leaving all that silly school work to the puppy.
She'd rather just enjoy the grass.

I visited a snake guy and got to play with some beauties!
The dogs we'rent so interested in that.

Sort of came home with two new snakes.
A pair of red blood pythons.

Most importantly we visited with Hank.
He was our shepard foster a while back who found his forever home!

Martok and Hank got along extremely well, even with the size difference.
I was delighted to see Hank doing so well and happy.
The summer fun better keep on comin!

Some Real Experience

Today Martok needed some new experiences. The sun was shining and with so many events going on around town it was hard to decide what to do. We ended up going downtown to one of my personal favorite areas to walk, Brush Creek, for the Dragon Boat Races!

There were a LOT of people around but I was expecting this! We came prepared with tons of treats, a toy and water. My plan was to stick to the slower areas with less crowds and scary objects.

I found it interesting that Martok didnt blink an eye at strollers, wheelchairs, people in strange uniforms, motorcycles or kids climbing on walls/trees but.... Balloons, Fountains and Statues scared him.

Martok didn't seem to enjoy being around so much activity but he tolerated it well and kept a pretty easy gait and nature the whole time, always up for listening and treats. He even had a few people stop to say hello but not as many as I expected, walking around with a little black puppy apparently is not as cool as walking around with a giant white brindled beastly bulldog. (everyone everywhere wants to say hi to Taricha, which she hates. See this post.)

The Dragon boats were neat! The teams rowing seemed to have no clue what they were doing as every other boat kept slamming into the edges of the creek, at a fast clip! It was hilarious and every time people roared!

Hey I think you need to straighten up...

Too much! **CLUNK**

what do you mean I can't go swimming, its hoooooot!

And we walked around and we chilled and we checked out the city.
Martok makes me smile, he really does!

Easy Entertainment

Part of being fit... on this Fit Fido Friday... is keeping both body and mind stimulated. Today was a bit hot and nothing beats the heat and the need for entertainment better than breaking out the kiddie pool.

Martok is turning out to be so crazy about water. He is eager to pull toys out of the water, they might drown if he doesnt!

Thanks for the pool, Ma.

Seems to enjoy  chasing his own splashes.
As soon as I put the camera down he got water zoomies... wish I had gotten it.

Both intently waiting for me to let them get the toy.

When I put Martok inside to give Taricha her own time in the pool... she was being weird! She just stood there staring... and staring.. and staring... (Sometimes Taricha needs her own time as Puppy Martok kind of 'hogs' the toys, water, space and attention.)

Taricha has been around kiddie pool's since she was a pup and it's still  a favorite. Changing it up keeps things interesting! Try putting a sprinkler in the water or nearby, squirting a hose, a toy that sinks as opposed to floats.Games with treats like jump in, jump out. Oh and add people (get in with them!), maybe even children!

Taricha two years ago playing with our niece in the pool!

Oh and I'm sure there are more ways to have fun?
Any ideas how to make water interesting this summer?
